Animal Kingdom is one of the major theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort. Dedicated to wildlife conservation, the park features hundreds of animal species from tigers to chimpanzees.

Of course, they also have many attractions such as shows and rides. In fact, they just added an Avatar-themed area in 2017.

Wondering what Animal Kingdom rides you should go on? Stick around, we’ll be going over our six favorite ones below!

1. Expedition Everest

Expedition Everest is the park’s one and only roller coaster ride. If you want to get your adrenaline fix, this is the attraction for you.

Opened in 2006, the ride—which allegedly cost $100 million to build—takes riders on an epic adventure through the Himalayas to Mount Everest; it won’t be an easy task though, for the mountain is guarded by the legendary Yeti.

Pure exhilaration from beginning to end, the ride has several highlights including an 80-foot drop and a backward helix.

Location: Asia
Height Restriction: 44” or taller
Fastpass: Yes
Single Rider: No

2. Kilimanjaro Safaris

Kilimanjaro Safaris features a safari adventure on an open-air vehicle.

Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of our favorite Animal Kingdom rides. Upon boarding an open-air vehicle, you’re taken on a safari tour through the Harambe Wildlife Reserve, which is home to many exotic animals.

Some of the ones that you might encounter include antelope, zebras, hyenas, lions, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, and more.

The best part of the ride? Each tour is different in that you’ll see different animals each time. For one thing, some species only come out during certain times of the day!

Location: Africa
Height Restriction: None
Fastpass: Yes
Single Rider: No

3. Avatar Flight of Passage

If you’re a fan of Avatar, you’ll definitely want to line up for this ride. One of the park’s newer attractions, Avatar Flight of Passage allows you to take flight on a mountain Banshee—a bird-like predator that is used by the Na’vi for hunting and traveling.

A mix of Soarin’ and Star Wars Tours, the attraction is easily one of the most popular Animal Kingdom rides. As you can probably expect though, there’s usually a hefty wait.

To minimize the wait time, you might want to try and get a Fastpass.

Location: Asia
Height Restriction: 44” or taller
Fastpass: Yes
Single Rider: No

4. Na’vi River Journey

Many guests waiting in line for the Na’vi River Journey ride.

Na’vi River Journey is another ride that is located in Pandora – The World of Avatar. Set in the Kasvapain River, the dark attraction—which can only be described as relaxing and beautiful—showcases various creatures of Pandora’s bioluminescent jungle.

As you continue with the journey, you’ll eventually come face to face with the Shaman of Songs—the most advanced audio-animatronic that Disney has ever made!

Location: Pandora – The World of Avatar
Height Restriction: None
Fastpass: Yes
Single Rider: No

5. Dinosaur

The Dinosaur ride can be found at DinoLand U.S.A.

Dinosaur—formerly known as Countdown to Extinction—allows you to travel back in time on special rovers.

Upon “landing” in the Cretaceous period, you’ll find yourself surrounded by ferocious creatures such as Velociraptors, Saltasaurus, Iguanodons, and Carnotaurus. The mission of the trip? To save a certain dinosaur from extinction.

Interestingly, the ride is similar to Indiana Jones in several ways—the most obvious being the design of the track and vehicles.

For some reason though, Dinosaur doesn’t seem to get as much love as some of the other Animal Kingdom rides. In fact, it had no line up at all when we visited during the summer!

Location: DinoLand U.S.A.
Height Restriction: 40” or higher
Fastpass: Yes
Single Rider: No

6. Kali River Rapids

Kali River Rapids takes you on a vivacious journey down the Chakrandi River. As you can probably guess, you will get wet on this ride (even more so than on Splash Mountain).

If that’s not your thing, you might want to invest in a poncho; there’s no shame in trying to stay dry after all! Seeing as how getting drenched is the main highlight, it’s not surprising to know that there aren’t too many drops or turns.

Nonetheless, it’s loads of fun!

Location: Asia
Height Restriction: 38” or higher
Fastpass: Yes
Single Rider: No
